Scott J. Tonigan, Ph.D., is Research Professor of Psychology at the University of New Mexico. He is a trained methodologist with more than two decades of experience as a federally-funded investigator of AA-related behavioral change. As a psychometrician, Dr. Tonigan has co-authored several influential assessment tools in 12-step addiction research. He is the organizer of the national pre-conference workshop “Mechanism of Change” at the annual conference for the Research Society of Alcoholism, and he serves as the chair of the University of New Mexico main campus Institutional Review Board and the Clinical and Treatment Health Services subcommittee at the NIAAA. As Co-Investigator, Dr. Tonigan’s primary responsibilities include monthly meetings with the study investigators, instrument development consultation, and dissemination of research findings.
