Jack Hirose and Associates Inc. was founded in 1998 by former clinical counselor Jack Hirose, MA. Throughout his twenty years as a mental health professional, Jack attended many workshops and training sessions hosted by a variety of organizations. However, he was unable to find the quality and standards of continuing education he felt essential to himself and his fellow practitioners. Taking the knowledge he had gained through experience garnered in the field, Jack Hirose organized his first workshops out of his home in North Vancouver. He began hosting small-scale events and teaching courses he presented himself.
In 1999, Jack signed on his first international presenter, the late Insoo Kim Berg, MSW., followed by Bill O’Hanlon, M.S., the late Michael White, BSW, Scott Miller, Ph.D., Michael Yapko, Ph.D., Gordon Neufeld, Ph.D., and Gabor Mate, M.D. This was the beginning of what would become a faculty of over 100 presenters affiliated with prestigious universities and institutions from around the world. Beginning in 2003, Jack expanded the repertoire of workshop topics offered by Jack Hirose and Associates and began hosting events with the following notable presenters: David Burns, M.D., Don Meichenbaum, Ph.D., Jane Middelton-Moz, M.S., Stephanie Covington, Ph.D., Ross Greene Ph.D. John Briere, Ph.D., Bessel van der Kolk, M.D., Joan Borysenko, Ph.D., Paul Foxman, Ph.D., Reid Wilson, Ph.D., Robert Brooks, Ph.D., John Preston, Psy.D. and Peg Dawson, Ph.D. Jack continues to work with these world renowned presenters to this day.
Since 1998, Jack Hirose and Associates has provided quality training to more than 80,000 mental health and education professionals throughout Canada and the United States. The annual Healing and Treating Trauma, Addictions and Related Disorders Conference, hosted by Jack Hirose and Associates, brings together fourteen world-class presenters and trains over 500 professionals each year. To this day, Jack Hirose personally selects and corresponds directly with each of his presenters.
In recent years, Jack Hirose and Associates has expanded in order to provide products and resources relevant to mental health and education professionals. We now offer exhibitor and sponsorship opportunities; educational DVD’s and CD’s; event staffing; conference planning; and JackHiroseResources.com, our online directory for community resources. We were inspired to launch a community resources website by the enthusiastic and loyal following we have developed. We hope this directory will be a valuable addition to the services we currently provide for our network of professionals, organizations and community members. We look forward hearing your feedback and seeing the growth of this new endeavour.
